Olivia’s parents contacted the Institut Chiari & Siringomielia & Escoliosis de Barcelona regarding their daughter Olivia’s case. Here they summarize their experience of undertaking a trip outside of their country, the United States, for the treatment of the young patient:
“Olivia was diagnosed at eight years old with Chiari malformation. And even though she had symptoms, she was actually misdiagnosed for many years and then we got a brain decompression surgery in the states but it wasn’t as effective as we would have hoped. We sought further answers and we found, online, the Chiari Institute here in Spain and we pursued the surgery here. This experience has been amazing for us, the team of doctors, the team here at the Chiari Institute has been amazing, very attentive to our needs, making sure that everything is exactly how we need it to be for our little girl. We are excited to see her progress in the future. We thank you for this opportunity and helping us to be here. This has been great. Thank you !”
