On November 22nd, 2018, the Belgian newspaper L’Avenir interviewed Lilou and Bastien Van Dyck’s mother.
In the interview, she explains how the lives of her two children, affected by Arnold Chiari I and Syringomyelia (the girl had already been operated on by craniotomy), have improved completely after they got operated on with an innovative technique in Barcelona. The girl is able to even walk again
Likewise, she comments, “Today we feel impotent against the current medical system, a compartmentalized system, which only takes into account the images of the patient and not the individual as a whole. It doesn’t take into account the patient’s clinical symptoms and often uses invasive techniques to treat the pathologies.
