The FAQ (frequently asked questions) section is the result of a compilation of the most significant questions according to their importance or frequency with which they are asked. The administrative staff has been compiling these questions since the beginnings of the Institut Chiari & Siringomielia & Escoliosis de Barcelona’s activity.

The medical team has prepared the answers under Dr Miguel Bautista Royo Salvador’s supervision to every single question.

The aim of this section is no other than to orientate, help and to solve the most common doubts that may arise when patients facing one of the diseases we treat. In no way does this section replace a medical specialist’s professional advise who sees the patient personally.

• How can I get to the Institut from the airport? How long des it take?

It takes approximately 25 minutes to reach our Institut on Paseo Manuel Girona 32 from the El Prat-Barcelona airport in a taxi.

You also have the possibility to take the train from El Prat’s Terminal 2 until Estación de Sants (Sants station). There you can transfer to metro line 3 (green), in direction Zona Universitaria until the stop María Cristina. This will take approximately one hour, depending on the waiting time for the different means of transportation.

Another option are Aerobusses that depart from all El Prat airport terminals to Plaza España and Plaza Cataluña.

• Will someone pick me up at the airport?

Given the access facilities from the El Prat Airport to ICSEB, we do not offer this service, but in very exceptional and justified cases, if requested by the patient, we could organize a pick up at El Prat Airport. In such a case, please request an additional quotation before confirming an appointment.

• ¿Can you recommend a hotel near the Institut?

• Is the price for the hotel stay included in the treatment costs?

The hotel stay is not included in the price for our services; and you will have to take care of the hotel reservations personally.

• Where does the consultation take place?

The appointments with our specialists take place at:

Paseo Manuel Girona 32, 08034 Barcelona.

• Is the address the same as for the facilities where the complimentary testing and/or hospitalisation are done?

The complimentary testing, hospitalisation and surgical treatment units are located at the CIMA hospital, in the immediate neighbourhood of our Institut, at Paseo Manuel Girona 33, Barcelona.

• If I come with my own vehicle, where can I park?

The best option is to contact our staff, and we will provide information about the option for your personal circumstances. There is public parking available at the CIMA hospital, please ask about the parking fees.

• Can I stay at the hospital with the patient?

Our hospitalisation organisation foresees and recommends the presence of an accompanying person for the days and nights of the stay at CIMA hospital in the patient’s room. In the case minors and/or incapacitated patients the presence of a legal guardian is absolutely obligatory during all parts of the course.

• Does your Institut offer an emergency service?

The CIMA hospital, where our team uses the operating theatre, offers a 24/7 emergency service.

At our Institut on the other hand, we offer ambulatory scheduled medical appointments.

The ICSEB remains closed on Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays, nevertheless, for any matter that may arise, please contact us via email or leaving a voice mail. We will contact you as soon as possible on the next working day.
