The\u00a0Institut Chiari & Siringomielia & Escoliosis de Barcelona (ICSEB)<\/strong>\u00a0belongs to the healthcare sector in a highly specialized area that deals with medical and surgical solutions that can help patients with diseases of the spine and brain.<\/p>

ICSEB<\/strong>\u00a0was founded with the objective of developing further the research and theoretical concepts established by\u00a0Dr. Miguel B. Royo Salvador<\/strong>\u00a0in the clinical field. The research and concept is concerned with the\u00a0Filum Disease (FD)<\/em>, described so far to group together diseases of the same etiopathogenesis, such as\u00a0Arnold Chiari I Syndrome, idiopathic Syringomyelia and idiopathic Scoliosis<\/strong>. Also, some other diseases that can be added to this group: basilar impression, increased cranial base angle or platybasia, Retroflexed Odontoid (RTO), kinking of the brainstem (KBS) and certain types of hydrocephalus.<\/p>

The Institut Chiari & Siringomielia & Escoliosis de Barcelona (ICSEB) is located on Paseo Manuel Girona 32, in the Pedralbes neighbourhood of Barcelona, 08034, Catalonia, Spain. All clinical outpatient activities are performed at this address, while the complementary examinations and surgical activity take place at hospital CIMA, located only at a few meters distance at n\u00ba 32 of Paseo Manuel Girona.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The medical team of Dr. M. B. Royo Salvador, Director of ICSEB, is composed of neurosurgeons with expertise in the conditions related to the Filum Disease and the spine.

Since 2008, thousands of patients have been diagnosed of Arnold-Chiari I Syndrome, idiopathic Syringomyelia and idiopathic Scoliosis at ICSEB, while our centre\u2019s exclusive method for the application of the most adequate and efficient treatment for each patient was outlined.

Our doctors are highly specialized in these conditions. ICSEB\u2019s Research and Development (R&D) Department\u00a0<\/em>was officially established in 2011 as a result of the constant work that always accompanies the day-to-day clinical activities of the Institut.<\/p>

Given that the developments in any area of medicine require research that supports its growth and evolution, the activity of research and development in biomedicine is necessary for the success of any strategy that aims to improve the health of patients and increase the potential beneficiaries of these treatments.<\/p>

Therefore, ICSEB is strongly committed to the integration of R&D on the clinical level with the objective of\u00a0increasing the effectiveness of methods and knowledge of the factors related with the treatment of diseases associated with the Filum Terminale, increasing success rates and minimizing the risk of the surgery.\u00a0<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/article>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

At ICSEB, we are pioneers at international level in the application of a unique and exclusive technique, supported by special scientific studies with highest academic distinction and the R & D projects at ICSEB intend to obtain the best scientific evidences to enable\u00a0the continuous improvement of the treatments, the amplification of the knowledge of physio-pathological anatomy and the development of new clinical techniques.<\/p>

Our research focuses on Filum Disease and related conditions. ICSEB is affiliated with the Research Ethics Committee (CEI) of the College of Physicians of Barcelona, which conducts the methodological, ethical, and legal evaluation of our studies. The committee also ensures the safety, well\u2011being, and rights of all individuals who participate in our research projects.<\/p>

ICSEB has been accredited annually as a medical R&D centre by ACIE to date, promoting within the international scientific community the study, publication, and dissemination of new clinical concepts applied in our health centre.<\/p>

The Resolution of the General Secretariat for Science and Innovation of the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness confirm our track record, with ICSEB being included in the Register and Seal of Innovative SMEs from 2017 to 2020.
