Giving a name to the Filum Disease and the Neuro-Cranio-Certebral Syndrome in an international publication has a great significance to us, who have been studying it, disseminating, working and publishing for over thirty years.
We started describing the Filum Disease in 1993 in the doctoral thesis “Aportación a la etiología de la siringomielia” (“Contribution to the etiology of syringomyelia”), where we highlighted the occult mechanical conflict between the spine and the nervous system, characterized by a growth asynchrony and aggravated by their connection to the Filum terminale ligament.
This conflict in the Filum Disease is expressed in the form of known conditions with unknown cause, such as the Arnold-Chiari syndrome type I, idiopathic Syringomyelia and idiopathic Scoliosis, Basilar Impression, Platybasia, Retroflexed Odontoid, Brainstem Kinking, Fibromyalgia, Chronic fatigue syndrome, mild cerebrovascular accidents, disk protrusions and herniated disks, facet joint syndrome, Baastrup syndrome, some types of Enuresis, neuropsychological and hormonal alterations, as well as the Neuro-Cranio-Vertebral syndrome which may play a role in the Ehlers-Danlos syndrome and others.
Since then, we continued with our research and reflected it in multiple publications, conferences, congresses, national and international meetings, while applying it through the procols of the Filum System® health method, designed for these new diagnoses and treatments and applied with excellent results in over 1700 patients.
Every day we acquire a better knowledge of the Filum Disease, we have arguments to believe that it affects all human beings and mammals – the classification group to which humans belong – producing a sordid, latent deterioration that goes unnoticed for most people, who are not aware of their disease.
We are happy to have the opportunity to share this outcome, as it means a better understanding of the Filum Disease and the Neuro-Cranio-Vertebral Syndrome, thus reaching as many patients as possible from all social and economic classes. We trust that the work we are presenting will contribute to the debate on the diagnoses in question in the medical world, opening up new paths to a broader consideration of the disease mechanisms and leading to future research for the benefit of patients and science.
You are welcome to contact us for any clarification regarding the Filum Disease, the Neuro-Cranio-Vertebral Syndrome and the Filum System® method that we apply at our centre for the diagnosis and treatment of the mentioned diseases and associated conditions.
